Omigosh, they’re so adorable.
And poor Wren! I’d imagine the wraps WOULD be uncomfortable. And it’ll suck when he takes ’em off, too.
Why’s he holding onto his arm, though? Just ’cause he’s uncomfortable?
My guess as to the arm-holding thing?
He’s resisting the urge to grab (and unwrap) his TAIL. That, and maybe being particularly uncertain about Anna’s school (as observed by kifcoyote, Wren’s experiences with school are _not_ good ones). That question of his, after all …
I think it is a nervous gesture. He has a lot of anxiety about his current situation.
He’s remembering how tough he had it in school. He used to get beat up all time time, and had a hard time making friends or finding mentors that treated him like more than a test subject. Bad memories haunting him.
Wren, you’re lucky that Ashton has a unique name. Imagine going through a list of 30-40 Ashtons living on the coast, not counting those who don’t have a social network account.
– Hey, do you know Lohaun? No, not your neighbour Lohaun Smith, the one from the Deadlands? No? Maybe you can recognize this CD? Well, goodbye then. I still have 18 more Ashtons in my list…
Wren does not know about this, but it is a very effective way to find the right Ashton. Just two laps around the city, and every resident will know where the “Little Red”
Well, first, welcome back, then, second, with all Wren’s other troubles, I hope he doesn’t have to deal with truant officers…
Wren’s new haircut looks so good on him. And ugh, I’ve wrapped my chest for cosplay before, so I can sympathize…
I love Anna’s shirt!
Hey! Hope things are easier for you now. Evil deadlines are evil!
I admit I wasn’t too keen on the haircut but it really does look good. And that body language! Perfectly done! I’m feeling nervous just looking at Wren. His past experiences with “classes” and kids his age aren’t particularly reassuring, are they?
Such good gestures and figure drawing on this page! <3
Thank you!! *HUGS
I think I was feeling particularly tense myself when drawing this.
Question… at this point in the story are they a couple?
I have my doubts, but she seems to be a much more quirky girl, kinda like a new friend I’ve got in the library.
Albiet the friend in the library is more after my brother. They’re both the same age.
Interesting question. Anna Wren behaves with both the pet. And I wonder as Wren can understand the “couple”.
I’m sure he understands relationships, I’m just wondering if there’s chemistry going on here. It looks like they connect well, but looks can be deceiving. If they hold hands or kiss, it’s a dead give away, but I know how a 4th person story telling could hold character’s away from the viewer. The off screen stuff.
Best example is(SPOILERS) like in Wakfu, You never see two of the characters explicitly show huge romantic interest beyond flirting, but by the end the couple admits to a bun in the oven.
If Ms. Mindy the Mad Sniper is taking this approach, I say it’ll be absolutely awesome, cause it’d keep us asking for more and will keep us speculating. Should she choose against it, then it’s her choice to not do so. The author is entitled to the way they tell us the story.
Wren was brought up in a very unusual conditions. It was especially difficult with the relationship between people. I’m sure he has read a lot of books, and watched a lot of movies, but what about practice? Anna is also quite unusual. I think between the two can happen anything. Is that something to stay behind the scenes? But we will see something.
The way our friend portrays them shows a relationship will obviously take place, I myself feel that a large rise in unconventional plots and story elements in recent years will bend the will of our author.
For example this whole fling, the entire love story charade is simply that, a red hearing from the plot. If it is, then I’m sure we will be playing shippers sailing the two along until the face heel turn.
Behind the scene stuff is good too, but it could lead to in-jokes that the reader would have to interperate. This isn’t a bad thing if it’s done well. And I have no doubt in Ms. mindy’s storytelling abilities. Its how she’s worked so far, plus my own insanity, that makes me want to see something crazy happen.
It’s hard to translate. I think I don’t understood it.
I apologize, I kinda get into trope terms after being on Tv Tropes for an overly extensive amount of time.
What I was saying is that there are a lot of story telling properties that can be incorporated that would make the story feel different. I see what could happen and I love trying to figure these things out.
As for the last part, I’m just sure whatever happens, our lovely author knows what she’s doing and will make it amazing.
Thank for the clarification
I just… get a little carried away :/
Hahaha no don’t worry I won’t be changing any ships due to current trends. The three big ones I’ve had planned from the beginning are set in stone. That being said, the main ship of the comic will not be what one might call traditional.
(PS I also totally don’t mind if you guys predict them. That never bothers me.)
Well, I guess you’ve got everything planned out.
But, why wouldn’t it be traditional?
I don’t think they’re a couple yet. But they’re getting there.
I just wonder since they feel like a couple already.
A new page!!!
This page looks great! Look at them <3
I’m pretty sure their standards for “a good day at school” are rather different.
His obvious trauma here does NOT speak well of the GECOW educational system. Seriously, the FUCK did those Unit 4 people TEACH for him to ask that question?
And specifically about teachers…. *steeples fingers*
*shudder* Good god. You’re making me realize that GECOW doesn’t really know what the word “innocuous” means.
Absolutely zero chill!
Wait wait wait wait wait.
I just remembered Hebe saying back in Chapter 2 that she was undercover at Unit 4. . . she didn’t say what her cover was.
Put together with this page. . . oh no.
Oh, I can actually tell you what that was! As I’m not sure when or how it’ll end up in comic so I don’t consider it a spoiler.
But just in case:
Hebe was brought in after Wren was beat half to death by Ryan and company. She was his physical therapist, helping him for about 6 months to get back to his pre-beatdown condition.
Hebe was actually one of the kinder adults Wren had much interaction with.
Wow. So that makes her turning on GECOW even worse for Wren, because it was a more personal betrayal. D:
. . .and also points out that Hebe knows a hell of a lot about anatomy, so therefore knows how to both fuck you up and put you back together after. Yikes.
…. I already miss the long hair.
It’ll grow back, lol.
I was hoping to see a bit more of them at Anna’s house.
They’ll go back later!
I wonder how Anna’s friends will react to Wren.
God i love this comic, only good that came of out of my goner laptop was the fact that i got to read like 3 or 4 of this comic that i missed XD Actually i gotta get caught up to a lot more other comics… If i could remember their names…
I keep hitting the next page button in the hope that there’s a new page.
Another schedule slip.
Yep, predictable madsniper.
Hey man, don’t sell yourself short. ::hugs::
Thanks! But no, really, like this happens every summer??
I almost called the social media site LinkyFace.
OMG! Yessss. Maybe LinkyFace is the up and coming competitor?
Yes! Soon PeopleLink will go the way of MySpace.
Later that year, PeopleLink added customizable personal pages, and a Pre-Cataclysm page fad caught on–with many pages becoming the unholy lovechild of the 1995 Space Jam homepage, and a 2016 teenager’s Tumblr, sparkly animations and automatically playing “retro music” abounding.
That proved to be PeopleLink’s death knell, and thus, it shed its userbase to LinkyFace. The lack of auto-play music was the primary draw, but adding people to your friends list by dragging a chain between your photo and theirs proved to be an immensely satisfying user interface feature.
Later, LinkyFace itself became a pile of narcissistic mishmash, and a handful of well-researched internet history nerds insisted that this happened before, before the Cataclysm, and we really should have seen all this coming.
